为了给19D营造一个浓厚的、良好的学习环境及学习氛围，鼓励其进行语音练习，调动其说英语的积极性，提高其英语学习兴趣，体验英语朗读的美感，为了展现18D英语系全体学生的精神风貌，鼓励我们开口说英语的热情和自信，锻炼并提高我们朗读能力，现开展了“每日英语领读者”活动，今日朗读者：张文锦、刘佳茹。

It's not easy to live and work in a big city,

'cause the competition is so fierce

and you can barely balance

your job and your life.

在大城市生活并不容易

因为竞争非常激烈

你几乎没有办法平衡工作与生活

It's not easy to live in a small city,

'cause everyone around you

will think they have a say

in how you live and

you're basically living your life for others.

在小城市生活也不容易

因为你身边的每个人都觉得

他们在你的生活中有话语权

而你基本是在为别人而活

I live in

one of the busiest city in the world

and I just had a dinner

with a former classmate

several days ago.

我住在全球最繁忙的城市之一

几天前我刚刚和以前的同班同学吃了饭

She gave up.

And she had decided

to go back home.

她放弃了

她决定要回老家

"Sad."I thought.

But I didn'tstop her,

because it was her own choice.

“悲哀啊。”我当时想

不过我没有阻止她

因为这是她自己的选择

I, on the other hand,

have a well paidjob.

So my life is quite good

in my point of view.

而我，有一份薪水不错的工作

所以在我看来，我的生活还挺好的

But I, too,

had my tough days

in the first few years

after I came here.

不过，我曾经也一样

在刚来这座城市的那几年

也曾过着艰辛的日子

And even now,

sometimes I got overwhelmed

by the workload.

而即使现在

有时候我也觉得

被工作压得喘不过气来

But I conquered them.

And they made mestronger.

但我战胜了它们

而且

它们让我变得更强了

I know it's hard

to live in such a bigcity.

我知道

在大城市生活不容易

And I know it's also hard

to live in a small city

like my hometown,

just in a different way.

我也知道

在一个像我家乡一样的小城市里生活

也并不容易

只是不容易的方式不同

But I chose here

because it has the very thing

that I cherish the most:

the freedom to live my own life.

 How to Balance Work and Leisure

如何平衡工作和休闲

Just as the old saying goes, " All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, which illustrates the importance and necessity of keeping a balance between work and leisure. However, in today's fast-paced work culture, it's difficult for most people to successfully maintain a good balance between the two.

正如那句老话所说，"只工作不玩耍，聪明的孩子也变傻。"这说明了平衡工作和休闲的重要性和必要性。然而，在当今快节奏的工作文化中，大多数人很难成功地保持两者之间的平衡。

As for me, some tips can contribute to achieving the balance. First of all, you should develop efficient working habits, because only in this way can you squeeze out some leisure time. It requires you to devote your full attention to the task at hand and complete daily work efficiently. Second, in order to relieve the fatigue abd stress, it's vital to schedule one thing that you are interested in each day and set aside some time for relaxation. Last but not least, for those workaholics, please keep in mind that if you work hard, you shouldn't feel guilty when you speed time on personal leisure, for entertainment is also a part of life.

对于我来说，一些技巧可以帮助达到平衡。首先，你应该养成高效的工作习惯，因为只有这样你才能挤出一些空闲时间，它要求你全身心地投入手头的工作，高效的完成日常工作。第二，为了缓解疲劳和压力，重要的是每天安排一件你感兴趣的事情，留出一些时间放松。最后但并非最不重要的，对于那些工作狂，请记住，如果你努力工作，你不应该感到内疚，当你花费时间在个人休闲，娱乐也是休闲的一部分。

To conclude, work and leisure complement each other, so when you get tired and bored with your daily grind, try to take some time off work to relax yourself.

总之，工作和休闲是相辅相成的，所以当你厌倦了每天的工作时，试着从工作中抽出一些时间来放松自己。
